Already felt confidence on a Tuesday during lunch to see several monks and mostly my Viet peeps fill up the tables. That means it's probably going to be a good meal. Nondescript strip mall, and handwritten signs saying to keep door closed due to ÁC.
We ordered the popular vegan Mi xào Mềm, shrimp gọi cuốn, plus canh chua cá.
The flavor was on point for the canh chua cá. The pineapple infusion really notched up the profile. My American friend enjoyed the mi xao. He brought home some gỏi cuốn for his mom.
In a saturated market and location, this place stood out! Definitely a worth a return.
The service was brisk and efficient. Pay at the counter where you can ask for to go containers.

The menu is wide and varied with many options. Everything I had was delicious and all their food is vegetarian. I'm not a fan of much processed plant-based alternative "meat" and they seemed to have a lot of that in their dishes. Other than that, I really enjoyed everything and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

My new favorite vegan vietnamese restaurant! Huge portions and a friendly atmosphere. I brought my friends here for their first taste of vietnamese food and they are huge fans now! LOVED the banh xeo and bun bo hue. The spring rolls with the peanut sauce were delicious as well. The food was wonderful and filling without feeling too heavy. I will definitely be back!

Perfect vegetarian food.
Amazingly delicious. I live in Los Angeles but would drive to Hoa Sen again.
Food: we ordered the Vegan sausage, Singapore noodles, and lemongrass chicken. I would recommend these dishes.
Service and ambiance: good service, medium sized dining room so not difficult to get the attention of the employees.
Highly recommend.

So unbelievably good. Even my meat eating partner loves this place; we routinely drive 30 min out of our way just to eat here at least once a month. We also order like 5 entrees every time bc wow everything is so delicious!!!
Must order:
Wonton noodle soup 5/5 so delicious and my new favorite
Rice in clay pot 5/5 amazing
BBQ pork spring rolls 5/5 love the crunchy wonton wrapper inside
Pho 4/5 good, I have some other pho places I like a little more but this is very solid
Others:
Bun bo hue 3/5 not my favorite but I've also never had traditional bun bo hue before, wouldn't order again
Papaya salad 3/5 prefer Thai style but wasn't bad, wouldn't order again
Crab porridge 3.5/5 interesting! I liked it and would order again
Duck noodle soup 3/5 a little boring in comparison to other dishes here imo, wouldn't order again

I was living in the South Bay at the time, so made a lil trip out here to try something new. Boy golly did it not disappoint. The clay pot rice is otherworldly good. The flavors were so rich and the texture was dense, chewy and satisfying, and had those delightful crispy bits you only get from cooking in stoneware. At no point did it feel heavy, like something so flavorful tends to be. Do yourself a favor and check this spot out!

My family has been going to Hoa Sen very few Sundays for the past couple of years. Frankly, to me, it is the single best vegan food in Los Angeles and OC area.
The food tastes delicious, there are plenty of vegetables and the service is quick and accommodating.
My daughter, who is the pickiest eater I've ever seen started eating their noodles.
Our favorite dishes to order are the tofu spring rolls, crispy fried mushrooms, sizzling yellow noodles, lemon grass tofu.
Their passion fruit drink is great too.
Higly recommend this place.

This was first time coming here and I was surprise with the service! They were really fast at serving stuff. The soup and noodle had no oil at all which made my mom enjoy her food. The place looks small on the outside but it kind of big on the inside. It looks very cozy and I might come here again when I have time.

Best vegetarian spot in OC, period.
You know it's good when there are monks dining there.
Favorite items:
Nem Nướng (BBQ "pork" spring rolls)
Goi Hoa Sen (Happy Hoa Sen Salad) - think I got the enough translation wrong, haha.
Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup)

We ordered togo with them recently and love everything we ordered, especially the bun bo hue and bo bia. Hoa Sen salad is good too, generous portions. It only took 15 mins for pickup.
